05.27.09

Had my monthly appointment today. My weigh in showed that I have gained four pounds. I shared this with Andrew and he replied with a surprised "Really?" As if he was expecting a zero after the four. This is when I rolled my eyes at him...ugh. We were also able to meet Dr. Jacobs, one of the three doctors at the practice. Dr. Jacobs used a fetal doppler so we could listen to Peanut's heart beating. It took a few seconds to seek out the beat, but he found it and again, a great sound to hear. I don't think that sound will ever grow old to Andrew or I. Dr. Jacobs did mention that probably by my next appointment I will be showing. Woo Hoo.

Can't Forget

Olive & Zeppelin
They are amazing little pugs and I have started to wonder (and worry a bit) about how they are going to handle the change that is about to come.

The Weekend

Three day weekends are the best. Andrew mowed the lawn and I cleaned out some stuff in preparation for our upcoming garage sale. It is hard to believe the amount of stuff that Andrew & I have accumulated since moving into our house almost four years ago. I am sure someone out there will find use for the stuff we don't need or want anymore.

We also had some fun over the weekend. We spent Saturday with my parents and grandmothers. It was the first time that they have seen us since learning about Peanut. As anticipated, everyone was very excited and looking forward to becoming grandparents and great grandmothers. We had a great time and of course, ate way too much food. Our friend Ken was also awesome and invited us for a nice cook out, good laughs and boat ride.

Can't Wait

So ever since the moment Andrew learned he was going to be a dad he was absolutely positive that he wanted to find out the sex of the baby. I always thought that if I was to ever become pregnant I would want to wait until birth day to learn if I was going to have a son or daughter. I figured that would be a nice surprise (along with all the other surprises I am learning about delivery). Well I have been thinking more and more about learning the sex of the baby. We really can't find out the sex until after week 20. At this point I do want to learn if we are having a boy or girl. I think that it will make planning (names, nursery, NY Giants jersey, etc...) much more easier if we knew. I truly do not think, that I will be able to wait until the end of November to find out what we are going to have. Especially knowing that Andrew knows. Lets face it, I can't even wait to open Christmas presents. Typically, a week before Christmas I already have either gotten Andrew to tell me what is under the tree or I have opened the gifts. I also am aware that nothing is 100% positive until the baby is here and in my arms.

Thank you.

Thank you to the inventors of the Bella Band. The best investment I have made so far in my pregnancy. It has given me some breathing room...ahhhh

Going Public

Andrew and I decided that we were going to wait until I reached the 12 week mark before going public with our news. This was a very hard secret to keep from my co-workers (bloated belly and stuffing my face with saltines) and from our friends. We almost made it to the 12 week mark before sharing the news. Needless to say, everyone was delighted to learn Andrew and I were going to be parents. I think one of the best reactions was the synchronized jumping my two co-workers did when I told them. It still makes me laugh thinking about it.

Andrew and I realized how fortunate we are to have such great friends and family who are so supportive and excited as we embark into unchartered waters. Peanut has no clue how much he/she will be loved and hugged.

04.29.09

Learned at first official obstetric appointment that I was a few days further along than originally calculated. Old due date (dd) was 12/3; new dd 11/29. Looks like we will have a Peanut for Thanksgiving. A great reason to be thankful!

04.23.09

Shared our news with the immediate family. As expected, everyone was thrilled and somewhat surprised. A lot of new grandparents, great grandmothers, uncles & aunt. Zeppelin and Olive were somewhat indifferent at this point. Andrew & I are positive they will be terriwoofic siblings.

04.17.09

First ultrasound today. Instructed to drink at least 20 oz. of water and did so. Got to appointment, ultrasound technician was "running late". Running late..right,I have a full bladder and a stomach of nerves. great combination. When my name is called, I then learn that in fact I did NOT need a full bladder-ughhh.

But after all that Andrew and I were finally introduced to our Peanut. Woo Hoo. We were also able to hear Peanut's heartbeat, by far one of the most beautiful sounds.

04.02.09

Digital or not the results were the same. I shared with Andrew this time. We both were in shock.

04.01.09

The first positive pregnancy test. First thought in my head "Holy Crap! Is this test right? I must invest in the more expensive digital pregnancy test." Not mentioning anything to Andrew, I went on with my day and stopped at Target on my way home to purchase a digital pregnancy test...
