better

After three consecutive days with a fever, lots of tears, lots of snuggles, lots of love, an appointment with the pediatrician, a funky rash, several cool baths, a phone call to the on-call pediatrician and a diagnosis of an ear infection, Liam is finally feeling BETTER!

flash friday

Liam battling the 90 degree temps we had this week.

The week started out well, got bad and then got worse. I am very much so looking forward to this weekend.

Tuesday was a bummer. My co-workers and I learned that positions were being cut. One of my favorite co-workers was "let go" and two others were also "let go" from our sister office in Amsterdam. While I am very fortunate and grateful that I have a job, I am also very sad to see these ladies leave. So after work, Liam went for his 6mos. appointment with his pediatrician. Drum roll please....Liam now weighs 16lbs 2oz, is 25.5 inches long and is on target re: developmental skills. YAY! Then he got his shots...boo! Then the shots kicked his rump.

Wednesday started out with Liam having a fever and was a bit cranky...so the fever dropped before he went to daycare. Within an hour I was on my way to pick him up from daycare as his fever returned and all he wanted to do was scream. Awesome! Got Liam home and it was pretty much a snuggle fest the rest of the day. That was pretty great.

Thursday Andrew stayed home with Liam as he still had a fever, but his mood was much happier. Andrew put a call into the doc's office and we were told that if the fever does not leave by Friday to call back.

Friday am Liam still has a fever. We called his pediatrician and he had an appointment scheduled for 9:30. Liam gained 4 oz between Tuesday and Today (16lbs. 6oz) and his fever was still going strong. Little guy had a funky rash all over his body and just looked sad. Diagnosis: (another drum roll please), Liam has an ear infection. Rash is from the viral infection he has been battling and will get worse before it gets better.

But the good news is that he is okay to travel... which means we can still go to Delaware! We are hoping for a better weekend.

6 months

Happy 6th month Liam! I can't even believe we are celebrating your 6th month of life. I wonder what you think about your past 6 months. What have you enjoyed or disliked? I hope you have enjoyed more than you have disliked.

I saw a little baby in store a few weeks ago. Newborn and sooo tiny. I overheard the proud mama of the baby telling another mama that her baby weighs 6lbs 5oz. Just the weight you were when you were born. I don't recall you ever being that tiny, but you were. I am glad you aren 't that tiny anymore. Don't get me wrong, I loved it when you were that tiny, but now that you are growing and changing on a daily basis, it is much more fun.You are sitting all on your own! You are reaching and grasping for anything that you can get your hands on. You still don't have any teeth, but that is okay. You have tried several vegetables and have enjoy them for the most part. I can't wait to see your reaction when you try apples today. You are trying to stand; you really love to jump. You recognize faces and voices. You often laugh out loud, especially at the pugs. You have a big personality for such a little person. You enjoy listening to music and a simple shhhh calms you down.

Next thing I know, we will be shopping for a tuxedo and styling your hair into a mohawk to celebrate your 1st birthday. Liam, watching you grow and change has been wonderful. I figured it would be great, but I never expected it to be this amazing. I love you, all the way to the moon & back.

"This is how I roll"

It's the Italian in him

Still smiles even though he is under the weather

We may need to purchase a back up sock monkey because of all the abuse & love this one gets.

I am not a supporter of co-sleeping...just my personal opinion. But Saturday mornings are meant for snuggling and relaxing. We often start our Saturdays with a family snuggle. I left the room for a bit and returned to find the guys sleeping.
The weekend is finally here. A big weekend for Liam...he turns 6months on Saturday. It has been a hell of a week. Liam has been sick with an awful cold, Olive was sick, again, we had to call animal control on our neighbor who is not a responsible dog owner and as when we left the house this morning, we realized we did not have any water coming into the house...so maybe the weekend will be better.

happy blogday

Happy 1 year Blogday to The Next Chapter!
5.20.10

In one year I have had over 700 views. While I know more popular blogs get that many views in a day or in an hour, I am pretty excited that my blog gets read (even if 500 of those views are probably from my husband). I also have 20 "followers", which is many more than I had ever expected.

I hope my "followers" have enjoyed reading The Next Chapter as much as I have enjoyed writing it. I can't wait to see what the next 365 days brings!

green beans

Liam tried green beans for the first time on Sunday. The green beans left Liam crying. Crying because the little jar of food was empty and he could not get enough of the green beaners. Believe it or not, he enjoyed the green beans more than the sweet taters. If he was capable of biting, I would say that this may possibly have been love at first bite.

flash friday

TGIF y'all! Reasons why I am excited the weekend is here:

1. Greek Festival is this weekend.
2. Carter outlet shopping with Robyn & Gherk -whose real name was learned this week!
3. Not having to work on Saturday.
4. Getting my hair cut and hiding the evidence I am getting old.
5. The best- spending time with the guys.

Enjoy your weekend!!

tater love

Liam is in love...with sweet potatoes. His lips touched the spoon that held the orange goodness and his life was forever changed. The boy loved the taters so much that he almost ate the whole jar. I could tell that the taters were loved because 1. He made practically no mess (hence the lack of photo). 2. As soon as the spoon came towards his mouth he sat with his mouth fully opened waiting, patiently. 3. He was pointing to the jar for more- which gave me a great opportunity to reinforce the sign language sign for "more". Sweet taters have been added to my list for homemade baby food. Sweet taters get two enthusiastic thumbs up from LCG.

weekend

We had a pretty great weekend...despite the crazy winds, snow and sleet that greeted us. We had planned on going to Tulip Fest on Saturday, but since Mother Nature was mad at someone, we decided it would be best to stay in, watch some awfully cheesy movies and eat unhealthy foods. But we did have some moments of being productive. Andrew and I planted a tree...okay, Andrew planted the tree and I just suggested told him where to plant it. I also got to finally plant my hydrangea plant that I received as a gift when Liam was born. Hopefully she survives the cold temperatures that are suppose to hit us this week.

Sunday was a great day. My first official mother's day, a trip to my mom & dad's and sleet. It was a nice day that ended with an even bigger bang. Liam really wanted me to remember the day, so he decided to have a blow out. EPIC, blowout. Basically nothing was in his diaper, it had all traveled up his back.  I think he wanted me to be able to show off my killer blowout recovery skills in front of my mom or it possibly could have been revenge from the peas...

A big thank you to
Andrew & Liam!

They made my 1st official Mother's Day
wonderful!

I love you Andrew!
All the way to the moon & back, Liam!

peas, please.

Mama: "Liam, today you are going to try some yummy peas."

Liam:

Mama: "So, what do you think about peas?"

Liam:

Liam gave peas one pathetic thumbs up.

post work day love

Still no teeth, but still a lot of drool. He is still struggling with sitting on his own...he is almost there, but not quite. He has pretty much mastered the roll- stomach to back and back to stomach. He loves to stand and kick and jump. I wonder how much longer we have before he is on the move...

rock n roll

Liam loves to roll...everywhere and into everything. He has recently realized that he can get what he wants by rolling to it or on it...

This is how it started out...

then he turns himself into a burrito...

sprawls...

sees what he wants...

starts to rock

then roll

an addition

Watch out, there is a new stroller in town. Let me introduce you to Quinny. Kind of funny that it is called Quinny, as oh say, about ten months ago we were thinking about naming "peanut" Quinn. Liam pretty much gave Q. two enthusiastic thumbs up...well not really, but he was very excited for our first walk with Q. and laughed quite a bit. I on the other hand did give Q. two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
I am very fortunate that one of my super, awesome co-workers was looking to sell Q. and right around the same time I was just beginning to look for a dependable jogger. It was a win, win for both of us.
