flash friday

It is New Years Eve and Liam is sick. He woke up late, has a temperature and just looks like poo. We had a fun filled day planned that included some sledding, a play date with Dylan and going to K & A's for some New Years Eve fun. Oh well the fun will happen another time; we are together and that is all that matters.
Here is the week in review:

merry, merry

To me, snow on Christmas morning is one of the main parts of the holiday. And here in New York, we had NONE. None! However I did wake up to find a "white Christmas" in our living room. Andrew made those old school snowflakes from paper and hung them around the Christmas tree. It was very thoughtful and magical. We laughed later in the day because we both realized that his snowflakes looked nothing like the snowflakes we once made back in elementary school. Although, no two snowflakes are alike...

We all were on Santa's "nice" list this year. Liam was very excited about the presents under the tree. And ran over to the biggest one (of course!). After tearing into, he was no longer interested in opening his presents, he just wanted to play with his farm. My parents came down to celebrate the day with us. It was a great Christmas. Andrew and I ranked Christmas this year as one of the best (in our adulthood). We hope yours was the best, too!

warrior dash

On 8.13.11 cheer me on as I complete the Warrior Dash. I am not a thrill seeker nor an athlete. So why did I sign up to participate in this event which is described as a run from hell? I am not totally sure myself. Maybe there was some peer pressure or maybe it is a good excuse to get my butt into gear or maybe it is because I am up for a challenge...but a run from hell (oy vey!). My plan is to get into shape....warrior shape. Kick some ass with my warrior partner, Sue, wear a furry hat and be able to say that I did this. Now....it is the getting from here to there part that is more intimidating than leaping over fire.

flash friday

TGIF. First trip to ER with Liam, cold temperatures without any snow and our missing new camera. We splurged on a really nice camera on Cyber Monday and have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of it.  It was suppose to be delivered yesterday, it was delivered, someplace other than our home. Someone out there got a really nice early present and it wasn't the Gregory family.  Oh well.

And he is off!

things that go bump

Just a note before you start to read this, everyone is fine. everything is okay.

Liam and I made a quick stop to one of the happiest places on Earth (a.k.a.Target) before heading home yesterday. We get home. It is nice and warm, I plug the tree lights in, anticipating Andrew to get home and to have a nice relaxing evening. That was the plan until Liam decided to send me go into cardiac arrest. As he was wandering around he tripped, fell and hit his head on the corner of the entertainment center. He screams immediately, I pick him up and notice that he has a big gash on his forehead and there is blood pouring out of it. Blood bath. So in my mind I am having flashbacks to first aid class and wished I had paid more attention. I get a cold, wet cloth and apply pressure to his head and try my hardest to calm him. I call Andrew in a panic, who kept his cool and reassured me everything would be okay and walked me though what I should do next. He was on his way home. I somehow got the bleeding to stop, got the screaming and crying to stop and bandaged up his little head and off we went to the emergency room. He was all smiles and giggles when we got there. Long story short, he is fine. He did not need any stitches and his cut wasn't as bad as I expected. The doctors applied dermabond, which essentially is superglue for the skin. I on the other hand could have not felt more worse about the situation. The cut is right above his right eyebrow and hopefully won't leave too much of a scar. It looked a lot better this morning: the swelling went down and there is no significant bruising.

As the doctor reassured us that Liam would be fine, he also reminded us that this will be the first of many. Like I told Liam, every scar has a story. I will post pictures later.

away
Or not. Two days after his annual check up and shots I get a call from daycare. I was told that Liam wasn't acting his "normal" self and that he was crying and only wanted to be held. He didn't have a fever and that I didn't need to pick him up asap, but just an FYI. So of course I leave to get him and manage to schedule an appointment with his pediatrician for that afternoon. When he saw the doctor on Tuesday, I asked for his ears to be checked because he had been pulling on his ears and I wanted to rule out an ear infection. Ears looked clear and no signs of infection.  Fast forward to Thursday. His ears get checked and of course he has an ear infection. So he is on antibiotics again and we are hoping the infection clears up. Liam is not letting the infection stop him. He is a walking & talking machine.

1 yr check up

Liam had his 1 year well child visit. My boy now weighs : 20lbs, 13oz and is 29 inches in length. According to his pediatrician Liam is doing excellent. Yay!

obx

We are finally unpacked and back into the swing of things after returning from our trip to the Outer Banks, NC. We had a wonderful time. The weather was pleasant, the house was awesome and being with family was the best!  Liam did fabulous on the plane rides. As expected, he was friendly with everyone who was seated around us and even played a game of peek-a-boo with a women who sat behind us. He really only got fussy at one point when we were waiting to get off the plane. But honestly, everyone was getting fussy.
Before take off
 1st destination

The ride from the airport to the OBX was a bit longer than expected. We hit rush hour traffic, Liam had a melt down and it was dark out- everything takes longer in the dark. Once we finally arrived to our final destination, we all had smiles on our faces.
but I think Grandma Nan had the biggest smile of all
