Get 'er done.  Our summer house project started yesterday and we hope it will be completed by this time next week. New front porch stairs & columns. Back porch knocked down and a deck to replace it.  These two items can FINALLY be crossed off of our "to-do" list. Which is two less things to worry about when the time comes to put that "for sale" sign on the front lawn. Which we recently decided will be Spring 2014!!!!!   yahoo!

So here are some before pics of the back porch. More to follow as progress continues.

Cake in a mug. Seriously, why did I not know about this idea like ten years ago. It would have saved me a lot of time and a lot of inches on my waist. I stumbled across this on.pinterest It is called :Aunt Betty's 1-2-3 Cake and it is easy. seriously. easy.

Take your favorite cake mix (Liam choose funfetti- I am sure all those cuppy cakes I ate while I was pregnant didn't have any influence on that choice) and one box of Angel Food Cake mix:

Then mix the two together in either a big container or zip lock bag. I chose the zip lock in case this ended up being a crock of shit and it would be one less container to clean out.

Then take 3 tablespoons of cake mix, 2 table spoons of water and mix it up- but not too much.

and then put it in the microwave for 1 min.

Let it cool and enjoy. I will say this, if you are expecting a delicious, savory cake, then this is probably not the cake for you. But if you want a quick snack, dessert, an afternoon snack at your desk or just something sweet...this will do the trick. Next time I am going to try it with strawberry cake mix, cool whip and fresh strawberries.

We hit up the local farmer's market on Saturday. It. was. awesome. We brought home a lot of yummy food. I can't wait to go back next weekend and the next and the next...

back in action

We are back. boo. hiss. We had a great week off and now we are trying to get back into the swing of things- laundry, cleaning, errands, routine, preparing for the week ahead.  That list is never ending, but it was nice to get away from it for a bit, explore more of New York & spend time with my guys.

We started off the week with some strawberry picking. Liam did really well and was a great taste tester. We ended up picking about 11lbs of berries. They were delicious!

Castles, boat rides, ice cream cones and feeding the animals.

 Pool side, Sylvan Beach and Thompson Lake.


& now we get back to reality...

I don't have anything of my own this week to share. I will make up for it next week from our adventures on our week off. Vacation starts today at 5:00.

I will share this other blog I came across beautiful birth beginnings. It has some amazing photos on it. If I was pregnant and lived in Cincinnati, I would totally have them document my labor.

I only wonder what he was dreaming about and what was being done with that applesauce.

Liam and Andrew are kicking off their 3 day weekend today while I am sitting in a training at work. all. day. long. But we do have a busy weekend ahead of us- swim, working(me), picnics, and getting ready for vacation! But a week stands between us, ice cream, sun burns and swimming.A family vacation without someone getting sunburn would just not be a vacation.

 Liam does. He is an official member of the The Upper Hudson Library System. I can only hope that his love for books continues as he grows & learns.
