numb

I came home to this the other day. Actually, I think Zeppelin was pretty excited to show me his work. He had it underneath one of his favorite blankets. He went over to the blanket and pulled out this mess. I guess it is our fault that we left the teething gel out. Zeppelin must have gotten curious and numb. Since it is all natural I wasn't too concerned about Zeppelin. I am sure he had a chamomile induced nap and no feeling in his mouth... for a while.

Squash time

Another week that has somehow turned into a blur. We are happy this week that:

1. A simple NYS car inspection did not turn into an expensive NYS car inspection.
2. Liam is trying his hardest to sit up.
3. Olive is feeling better
4. We got to carpool two days this week
5. We are going to spend Memorial Day in Delaware

squash

Liam is a fan. He tried it for the first time yesterday. He was unsure of what to do with it in his mouth, his tongue was moving about & sticking out, then he realized that it had a flavor, other than formula or oatmeal cardboard flavor and he wanted more. I am not sure who had more fun, Liam trying squash for the first time or us, the parents, watching him taste it, play with it & make a mess with it. He tried it again tonight. He opened his mouth when he saw the lovely orange mush on the spoon and leaned forward to the spoon. I know he likes this stuff because he would take breaks from sucking on his hand so he could get a spoonful of squash.

Figuring it out...
Just a little more, please!

mom

Okay, so you have to watch this until the end to fully appreciate Liam's attempt at saying "mom". Whether he is saying mom or just babbling, I love it! Please excuse his chomping.

5 months.

Happy 5th month of life, Liam! This past month was very busy for you. With family and friends, we celebrated your baptism, you started cereal, you are a busy little guy in your jumper, your were sick and you desperately have been trying to sit up on your own. And my most favorite thing you have done are this past month is say"mom". Well at least that is what it sounds like and I will take it! You have grown so much this month. Things that did not fit you two weeks ago because they were too big are now too small for you. Sitting in my arms in our favorite chair, you no longer need your head supported and you practically fill my lap. You remain  curious with the world that surrounds you and you giggle at the pugs.

I love that your are growing and your personality is emerging. Everyday you have the ability to not only make my heart melt & make my eyes a bit teary, but you also make me laugh..hard. While I don't want to rush time, I simply can not wait to see who you will be, what you will do, what you will like or dislike, and if you will be left handed (my fingers are crossed). No matter what you do, who you will be, what you like or not, I know you will always continue to make me a proud mama.

not so flash friday

Please forgive me for the lack of flashes this week. It has been hell here in the Gregory home. Liam has been suffering from a tummy bug. We have gone through a lot of diapers, wipes, butt paste, baths and several loads of laundry. As you could imagine there have also been several OMGs & holy craps (literally) from Andrew and I. His little pal at daycare had it...for 7days...we are on day 5. This week has also confirmed why I chose to not go with cloth diapers. I give credit to all the moms out there who do cloth diapers. With fingers crossed and a massive supply of baby essentials, we are hoping Liam is finally getting over his tummy bug.

home

My bff, Jackie, finally made her way back to her new home in England. She has been patiently waiting for the thumbs up for her VISA and it finally came! She was off on a jet plane as quick as she had that hot, little VISA in her hands. Mind you, she and her husband have been married since 1.09.10 and have not seen each other since January. So it was a long wait for both of them, but well worth it, I am sure. Happy Reunion Mr & Mrs. White!

hijacked

Let me start off by saying that I did not encourage the following photo. I simply was taking pictures of Liam enjoying his cereal and he was hijacked.

bombs away

I heard the stories about how powerful  an explosive bowel movement in a baby could be; I laughed. I thought things would not be that bad with Liam since 1. Liam is not breast fed 2. He is pretty low key when it comes to a BM.  I was wrong.

I have had the joy of cleaning the boy up after a BM mishap. Mishap and explosive are two completely different things. Things got a bit explosive the past few days. What we thought was just an innocent shart, turned into what I thought was going to cause  Andrew to faint.

So a few things were learned in the past couple of days:

1. Babies do have a lot of power behind those gummy smiles.
2. Explosive BM, my kid or yours, I still find it funny.
3. Must add smelling salts to shopping list.

mama day

Liam didn't have daycare today, thus I did not work, so we spent the day together. It has been a while since  just the two of us were home together for the day. It reminded me of how far we have all come since he was born. I remember when I was on maternity leave there were days that just seemed to be filled with bottles, diapers and coffee (lots of it), no time to eat or sleep. It seems so long ago. We have more fun now a days.  We started our day off with a sweet snuggle and the fun just continued throughout the rest of the day.

Overall it was a pretty great day. Even the part when he pooped so much it blew through his diaper and ended up in  all sorts of places (seriously).

flash friday

Please notice the large string of drool escaping Liam's mouth.
I think I once said I would never take photos of my kids with drool all over their mouths...amateur.

full of thanks

I am reminded all the time how fortunate Andrew and I are to have Liam as our son. I remember when Liam was born and I heard his first little cry, even before I got to see him, my heart hurt from the love I had for him, already.  And then I got to see him. Then I  finally got to hold him. I looked at him,  kissed him, held him and thought that it was impossible to love him any more than I did right at that moment.  But I find myself loving Liam more and more each and every day. I tell him that all the time, but I am unsure if he will ever possibly know what he means to me. After I told him tonight, he replied with a burp that was followed up with a large amount of spit up. I am guessing that is his way of telling me that he wanted to change the subject and his clothes, too.

Someone really enjoys looking at his reflection. It is quite entertaining to watch him interact with himself. BTW I am totally holding him up in the lower photo.

baptism

We always have craziness consistency in our lives, especially when it involves an important day, memory, holiday, etc... For example, when the priest who married Andrew and I announced us as husband and wife...he said "I now introduce Mr. & Mrs. David Gregory". Silence in the church and an embarrassed priest. Granted, Andrew's middle name is David. But I must say, Andrew's Uncle David definitely perked right up in the his pew. lol. Anyhow,  Andrew received a phone call Saturday afternoon informing him that Mother Ginny (who was to baptize Liam that evening) was at the emergency room after falling and seriously injuring her foot. Fortunately, the church was able to call in Mother Karen to perform the baptism. While the important part was that the baptism was still going to happen, we were disappointed that Mth. Ginny would not be able to perform the baptism.

We had a small gathering at our home to celebrate Liam's baptism before the actual baptism. It was nice to see our friends and family. And the weather was fabulous. The baptism went well despite the church was a trillion degrees and everyone was pretty much a wet rag by the time the baptism was finished. Liam was a champ and made a small fuss when the water touched his head. Despite the change in plans, it went well and we ended the night with some yummy cake.
